A lot of people love a bucket shape — it offers generous space and makes rummaging easy. I made a bucket bag under my previous label, Workbelt, and it became my most popular design. But the basic construction and use of rivets gave it a slightly ‘crafty’ feel that no longer aligned with my Ella Jackson label, so I reluctatly let it go.

With everything I learnt in Italy, I’ve felt ready to reintroduce it — this time, elevated and refined. The new design is fully lined, features contrasting stitching, and has an extra-wide strap for comfort. I’ve used Italian vegetable-tanned leather so it holds its form beautifully and ages with quiet grace.

It’s a particularly practical shape if you like your bag to stand upright — a simple luxury that makes everyday use feel that little bit easier.
